I’m full of anticipation and preparing everything for Fiambala. But I can’t forget, that I have 3 horses which need my attention as well. This afternoon, we have had pretty high temperatures, so that I went to Carmelo Cabalgatas. Nevada has got a shower, was groomed and I cut her hair. My stallion is quiet a big horse and gets very fast very wild. He is not mad, but one has to understand it. Estrella, the smooth one, was groomed and all the three of them have got some carrots. You have to take your time when you go to horses, calm down, be quiet and you have to concentrate on the necessary. They pay you back with friendliness and faithfulness.

Today the folklore festival of children started here in La Cumbre. First there was a procession through the village accompanied by the group of Gauchos. In a big hall there are now the acts and the best group will win a price. It’s a national event and from all over the country kids and teenagers have arrived. Yesterday I was in a special treatment. Mounting steps, sit up-training like a goal keeper and push ups. Today I have had a rest day from training. There are still 4 days remaining until Fiambala.

Also Fahrradfahren …

Patience has never been one of my strength. All the months from March to now have not been so long as the 5 remaining days to travel to Fiambala. When I have got my first rally licence I have had to make a psychological test. The nice lady looked at me and said: You are too impatient. Go on bicycle, do swimming or make sit ups. So, I went on bicycle… that’s not one of my favourites. I’m a lousy bicycle rider. And this “thing” has no engine… And we have had about 100 km / h contrary wind (as I felt). Pfffffff! But all the balance exercises I had to do and also other funny things helped me to calm down.

My “Biwak” situated on 1250 m above sea level, about 110 kilometres north of the capital Cordoba of the province Cordoba. About 7’000 people are living here, not in high season, then maybe more than 10’000. Most of the people here are living what they produce on their little ranches and from tourism. Economy in Argentina is not very stable. That’s why we have to be flexible. Maybe a supermarket does work well in one month, in the next month we have to look for another one. Hotels are working well one season and then they close .. One problem is that we do not have a fuel station in our village. I have to travel 18 kilometres to fill the tank of the pickup and also spare tanks for my quad. But very few away from the village we do have pure nature. Fresh air, plenty of space for a lot of outdoor activities. Here are living my friends and I feel really comfortable here.

Ariel Gonzalez 2Since a long time, Ariel is our friend and he also works for us if we do have guests. His profession is teacher for sports and also blacksmith. As Personal Trainer he brings every person to the top. He will also instruct me to drive well my mountain bike. (good luck, Ariel). He started his sports activities when he was 6 years old. His trip to school was about 14 kilometers. First he went on horse back later on his bicycle. In Las Leñas in the province of Mendoza he worked as teacher of sports activities in big centres of tourisme. Instructor for horse back riding, swimming, skis … everything what has to do with sports.

On the ranch he grew up, they did not have electricity or water. But he has learned so much about nature, what is important also today in our civilised world. During a trekking in the mountains he knows exactly what kind of plants are useful, where you can find water to drink and where you have to cross rivers.

His lessons are full of his phantasy. He does not need high-tech machines to let you work a special part of muscles. It seems that he controls every step you do, he observes your respiration and the pulse. What he absolutely hates: If he notices that you are not going to give your best. He push but he also compliments.

For me, Ariel is my perfect Personal Trainer. He is fully involved in my project. Because you have to know: He has made the contact to Daniel Mazzucco. He wants to see me in the team and running for CanAm.

Link to his facebook: you can find him as a friend on my facebook account.
