The guardian angels from Nihuil

After my happy arrival in the bivouac I started with my pilot routine. Get undressed and changed and complete my equipment for the next day. Then I had a little speech with my mechanic about the repairs of my quad. But this was a short discussion, my quad was in a perfect shape. Also my tires were just in perfect conditions.

In a sudden, there was coming a man out of the crowd and asks for me. I recognize him because of the eyes. He is one of my guardian angels. One of the two private motorbikers who helped me out of the dunes the first time. He and his friend, who is not here at the moment, showed me the way out of this big sand playground with a little “shortcut”.

He is very lucky to see me at the bivouac. And I am very lucky to see him. Unfortunately I haven’t his address and I do not know his complete name. Fernando has noticed his address somewhere but then it is got lost. I have to promise to him to go to the final ramp at the goal in La Rioja. I will do my very best, but I can not promise it. There are a few thousands of kilometres more to La Rioja.

And now they come back to the point of “shortcut”. Fernando went back to the bivouac after our start on a direct way. Then he went to the control centre of the organisation and observed my little GPS-point on the screen. So he has seen all my stops and also my confirmation that I am okay. But in a sudden he saw that my little GPS-spot went off the route. He could not know that I have had two guides to show me a little shortcut out of this sandpile. Fernando was afraid. But when he has seen, that I went back to the normal route he could not explain how I did this. Everyone knew before, that I have never been at Nihuil before in my life. So they couldn’t know whether I have such a good sense of direction or if I was just lucky.

I had to guardian angels.
