Im Jahr 2018 war diese Etappe die härteste seit der Gründung der AFRICA ECO RACE® nach René METGE. Im Ranking gab es viele Veränderungen. Dieses Mal entschied das Organisationsteam, die Schwierigkeit der Etappe zu begrenzen und nahmen nur das erste Drittel der alten Spezialetappe. Deshalb steht das weiße Tal und der El-Nhouk-Pass wieder auf dem Programm. Die Konkurrenten werden durch neue, sehr interessante Strecken und Dünenketten fahren. Das Ziel ist im Biwak in der Nähe der Stadt Akjoujt, wo alle die meiste Zeit damit verbringen werden, der Stadt und den Kindern Verschiedene Hilfspakete zu übergeben.
Angelica ist bereits im Ziel. Es gab gestern einen schweren Unfall eines Bike-Fahrers aus ihrem Team. Guillaume Vidal, stürzte mit seinem Bike. Seine KTM fing Feuer und wurde zerstört. Der Helikopter flog ihn ins Spital nach Nouakchott.
«War eine kurze Etappe heute. Habe das Auto 303 gelotst, damit Andre Vidal schnell im Biwak war. Er versucht nun sein Auto irgendwie nach Dakar transportieren zu lassen und fährt nun ins Spital zu seinem Sohn, damit er mit ihm im Sanitätsflugzeug nach Frankreich fliegen kann.
Unsere zwei verletzten Töff-Fahrer Wolfgang und Enzo sind noch unterwegs. Sie wollten heute starten, mussten aber nach dem Start abbrechen und die Strasse nehmen. Enzo wurde unterwegs auf einen Lastwagen aufgeladen, weil er wegen der Gehirnerschütterung nicht geradeaus fahren kann. Nun merkt man allen ein wenig an, dass diese Rallye energiefressend ist. Auch die Mechaniker leiden langsam unter den Strapazen.»
In 2018, this same stage was the toughest since the creation of the AFRICA ECO RACE® according to René METGE. There were many changes in the ranking. This time, the organization teams decided to limit the difficulty of this stage and therefore only the first third of the special sector was kept. Therefore, the white valley and the El Nhouk pass are now back onto the program. Then, competitors will drive through new very interesting tracks and cordons of dunes. The arrival will be set at the bivouac not far from the city of Akjoujt in which the rally makes the most of their stop there to deliver several packages for the municipality and their children.
Angelica's already at the finish line. Yesterday there was a serious accident of a bike rider from her team. Guillaume VIDAL, crashed with his bike. His KTM caught fire and was destroyed. The helicopter flew him to the hospital in Nouakchott.
"It was a short stage today. I piloted car 303 to get Andre Vidal to the bivouac quickly. He now tries to have his car transported to Dakar somehow and now drives to the hospital to his son so that he can fly with him in the ambulance plane to France.
Our two injured motorbike drivers Wolfgang and Enzo are still on their way. They wanted to take off today, but had to break off after takeoff and take the road.
